Obama - High Speed Rail
Is Obama promising the mid west High Speed Rail?
June, 2008 - Obama talking about high speed rail and connecting major mid west cities via a $60 billion reinvestment fund in infrastructure. We will pay for it by bringing the war in Iraq to a close. The $60 billion fund is for the entire US.
$60 billion in infrastructure won't build much. Take a look at the escalating price of the proposed California High Speed Rail Project for example. The entire 800-mile system - from Sacramento to San Diego - would cost $98.5 billion, or about $123 million per mile.
At that figure $60 billion would build 487 miles of infrastructure.
25 second mark: Obama uses the word "raggedy" to describe passenger rail in US.
45 second mark: Obama uses a word not in the English dictionary "elevatits."
Obama is a much better speaker when he has a script and a teleprompter and a few dry runs with the material. This video is proof of that.
